I decided to come to Japan before the scheduled start of the internship to get to know Japan and brush up on my Japanese before the busy workload took over. The positive effects of this personal decision have been endless but there is one major problem that arose that any future interns should be aware of. Visas in Japan can be a particularly troublesome affair and it is never wise to underestimate the red tape. My early arrival threw off the usual application process and as a result my internship is due to start two weeks late!
Endless thanks and appreciation goes to all the Saltire Foundation staff, particularly Stephen Baker whose tenacious will (and FANTASTIC Japanese) has helped me fight through the tedious forms and get things moving along.
So where to begin my blog? My hard drive is bursting with fantastic moments from the last six weeks so allow me to share a few of these with you before moving onto more recent affairs and the exciting prospect of working at Toshiba.
