Hey peeps. So I've just touched down in Washington state in the fab city that is Seattle. Have grabbed a local beer at the recommendation of some locals in the only bar that is still open in the airport and thought, what can I do for the next 30 minutes as I wait for my Airporter? ("for a car free care-free life")...Blog.
Well let me tell you about my flight here. Flew Virgin America of course - as if there is any other choice in the US domestic market. Though this time I plumped for the $50 upgrade and flew in the first class cabin. Now having flown them a few times now, I know that coach/economy is pretty darn special, so I'll not lie when I say that I had pretty high expectations. Did they disappoint? Did they heck. 1 hours 45 minutes of sheer pleasure, comfort and joy. Linda, our personal hostess, was there in a jiffy to attend to my every need. Primarily this was to top-up my glass of beer, though intermittently to check if I was "comfortable enough" or did I need a "coffee or tea" or "tortellini with shitake mushroom and spinach with a tomato, olive and feta salad with a balsamic vinaigrette on the side"? Did I ever!! First class is, well, class. And served in real glass, on porcelain and with stainless steel cutlery. Easily the best £28 I've ever spent. Add to this the great company I was afforded on the flight - Mary from Washington state, who also lives in San Francisco. We covered Obama, McCain, redwoods and sequoias, wine, beer, crab and lobster, San Fran, DC, NYC, the environment, war in Iraq, Scotland, England, Wales and France....Mary, you are a total trooper and I look forward to our trip to Napa where you claim you are going to educate me re wine and me you re 'Scotch'.
All in all a pretty good experience. How can I ever go back to the back of the plane again with the minions? Think I'll be on to Sun to upgrade me to business for my flight home!! Good luck me.
Time to go as my pumpkin style coach awaits to transport me to Iain and Lorraine's place in Bellingham,
Rory
PS He he....and here she is on the radio. AGAIN. Leona Lewis is EVERYWHERE in the states. Sock it ya Mariah and Shania!!!
PPS - I forgot to take my passport to the airport with me and had to make a mad dash via a yellow cab back to my apartment in Downtown SF to grab it. Made it back just in time for first class to be called for priority boarding. Phew...
