Update time –
Early last week, with the afternoon off, we went to the Greater Boston Food Bank in the south of the city. All the interns at Liberty were helping out as part of the company’s community service program. We were carrying pallets, breaking down cardboard, sorting food, and ultimately providing for the city’s hungry. At the end we were triumphantly told that our work had produced 7,000 meals - it is difficult not to feel good after that.
I have been working on my presentation in the last week too. I have a basic layout and order in place, and I am now beginning to flesh it out with my research. It is a challenge to try and use all of the important information I have, as well as keeping it concise and punchy.
Away from work, we went to see Radiohead on Wednesday night for Matt’s 21st birthday. We headed to the Comcast Center in Mansfield, which is about a 40 minute train ride outside of Boston. The gig was amazing. I hadn’t heard too much of the new album, which they played in full, but they did loads of their other stuff too. 20,000 people singing along to Karma Police is a memory that will stay with me for a while. (I have now been listening to In Rainbows constantly, and is fast becoming a challenger to Viva la Vida as the album of the trip). There are plans to see some local bands as well, as flying 3000 miles only to see two British bands is pretty wack I realise (after 5 weeks, I am getting pretty good at the American chat).
Also, I was able to take advantage of the Massachusetts sales tax holiday this weekend, and bought a nifty pair of Bose headsets. My iPod sounds infinitely better now, although I resemble Craig David from the Born to Do It album cover with them on – “Craaaig David!”
