Well this is me back on South Uist after my 2 months in Houston. I’m sitting glued to Drudge Report and BBC News 24 for updates on the damage cause to Houston by Hurricane Ike.
It’s a very strange feeling; part of me is incredibly relieved that we left before Ike hit and thus avoided all the problems and hardships that are now being faced by those resident in Houston. But the vast majority of me feels that we should be there to give a hand with the clean-up and to help those who were so ridiculously kind to us during our stay.
Those we worked with at the Wood Group (and more generally everyone we met in Texas) were extraordinarily kind and welcoming and i just wish we were able to head back over to give a wee hand to those who may need it.
They are all in my thoughts just now.
I’ll post a final blog at the beginning of next week detailing my final couple of days in the states.
